Blog 6: 2nd Themed Free Post-Macramé

Hi, how are you? Today I have a new post, is the penultimate!

Macramé is a technique that creates fabrics using decorative threads, these fabrics are known as knots, which are executed only with the hands. It is a very old art, used by the Persians, Assyrians, Arabs, although if we go back much further in time we can realize that the human being began to knot from very remote times, in the Mesolithic, perhaps not with a decorative purpose, but as a tool to create (arrows, spears, etc) and meet basic needs. These primitive and remote knots are the first antecedents of macramé, as they are known today, although the origin of the technique goes back to the East (2300 BC), to Mesopotamia, to the Assyrian and Persian peoples -as I mentioned before-. They were the first to knot only in order to decorate the edges of carpets with knots. That is where the first name for this art came from, from the Arabic word migramah (knotted fringe), which is prior to the Turkish word makrama, and the French word Macramé.
It is impressive that this art of knotting is everywhere in the world, which has transcended for thousands of years and will continue to do so. I am delighted with the history, also with what you can achieve with your hands and threads. It's a very beautiful technique.
