Hi everyone, I hope you're all right, I have a new post today about veganism.
Veganism is an ethical lifestyle that respects the life of non-human animals, which eradicates consumer habits where they are exploited, such as consuming animal products and by-products. It is born from considering animals as subjects of law, as sentient beings (just like humans). It's anti-speciesist, that is, it does not discriminate against any species. Likewise, there are no hierarchies in it, since human and non-human animals are considered to be equal because of their condition as beings.
In addition to looking after animal welfare, it also does so for our species. There are great benefits to living a vegan lifestyle. A vegan diet is much healthier than an omnivorous one, in fact, it prevents chronic diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer, osteoporosis, even obesity, as these are related to eating a diet where animals are consumed. In addition to being beneficial to health, it is also beneficial to the environment as it contributes to reducing water consumption due to the fact that livestock farming requires more than agriculture, reduces greenhouse gases, etc.
Despite the wonderful benefits it can bring to our health and environment, the importance of veganism is that it allows us to recognize and respect the inherent value that every sentient being has. It is an ethical principle of equality that allows us to stop seeing other beings as means of consumption for our pleasure.
